maudlin lucile: Here Are 2013's Outside Lands Food & Drink Vendors

As it enters its sixth year, Outside Lands has become nearly as renowned for its food and beverage offerings as it has for its musical stylings, even snagging a Food & Wine Sommelier of the Year nod for wine organizer Peter Eastlake back in March. Now, the organizers bring word of all the culinary delights that will be offered at the 2013 event (August 9-11), alongside tunes from Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phoenix, and Nine Inch Nails, among many others.

The biggest headlines come from the Best of the Bay Area food tents, where Rich Table, Il Cane Rosso, 1300 on Fillmore, Wise Sons Deli, Nopalito, and Escape from New York have all joined the fray. Though menu items aren't set in stone, Evan & Sarah Rich plan to serve their famed sardine potato chips and porcini doughnuts, Lauren Kiino and the Il Cane team will rock griddled French toast and fried-egg sandwiches, Wise Sons is bringing pastrami sandwiches and pastrami cheese fries, and 1300 will be offering shrimp and grits. They join a number of repeat vendors from last year, including Namu, 4505 Meats, Nojo, Tacolicious, El Huarache Loco, and Homeroom.

On the food-truck end of things, The Chairman, the Rib Whip, and Kung Fu Tacos will make their debut alongside veterans Del Popolo, Brass Knuckle, and Hapa SF, and Blue Bottle and Trouble Coffee will also have booths at the festival for the first time. Outside Lambs, the whole-animal food frenzy featuring John Fink of The Whole Beast, will return for year two, with One Market's Mark Dommen manning the guest-chef spot. And Choco Lands, the all-chocolate section of the food party, will be back as well; the restaurants for that have yet to be announced.

Wine and beer continue to be among the festival's strengths, with wineries like Scharffenberger, Broc Cellars, Forlorn Hope, and Mina Group sommelier Rajat Parr's In Pursuit of Balance joining existing favorites Scribe, Turley, Wind Gap, Scholium Project, and Long Meadow Ranch. As for beer, Magnolia impresario Dave McLean will again curate the selection, with newcomers Almanac, Social Kitchen & Brewery, and Ale Industries joining the likes of Pacific Brewing Laboratory, Linden Street, Drake's, Anchor, and Speakeasy. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. will be back with their special Outside Lands Saison, and a beer camp in Hellman Hollow. And if you're still hungry after all that food and drink, you can pick up some farmer's market produce from Full Belly Farm to bring home.
